Apple’s apparent morality campaign rears its ugly head

Siri useless

Over the past few years, many blogs and news outlets have reported on Apple’s reticence or outright refusal to allow apps with so-called objectionable nature to be sold on its App Store. I’m not sure if this is still going on or not, as I haven’t heard any stories about it recently. After a quick search, I can’t find a Playboy app, so I assume this policy is still in effect. Anyway, it seems to have taken a step further with the advent of Siri. Not only are they not allowing you to look at what they deem to be inappropriate content, but now they’re not allowing you to find an abortion clinic. Now, regardless of where you stand on the issue of abortion, Siri is defined as a “personal assistant.” I don’t know about you, but any personal assistant who withholds information from me because it contradicts his or her personal beliefs would not be my personal assistant for long. I suggest reading the original blog down in the source link, because they provide pretty compelling examples to back up their claim.
