On January 30, 2012, Pennsylvania lawmakers declared with House Resolution 535 that 2012 would be deemed “The Year of the Bible” to “serve as a reminder that we must look to our faith in God and the Holy Scripture to provide us with the strength, wisdom, and courage to conquer these great trials.” This is an obviously illegal and unconstitutional endorsement of religion by the state.
Nonetheless, the Pennsylvania Nonbelievers decided to play along and celebrate the spirit of “The Year of the Bible” by placing a prominent billboard celebrating the morality taught by this Holy Scripture. The original billboard looked like this:
In less than one day, the billboard was vandalized to look like this:
Interestingly, the vandals didn’t destroy the Bible verse. Apparently the most objectionable part of this billboard was the mention that it was paid for by American Atheists and PA Nonbelievers?
