It’s time for Gallup’s annual installment of “Who do we hate the most?” The title of this year’s poll says it all: Atheists, Muslims See Most Bias as Presidential Candidates. Obviously, coverage of this year and last year focused primarily on America’s perception of Mormons, but once again we see that Atheists are the least-electable minority in the U.S., significantly behind Gays/Lesbians and Muslims.
Interestingly, when broken down by age, we see a clear trend that younger voters are less likely to discriminate against any minority (especially
Gays/Lesbians, Muslims, and Atheists).
While it’s disappointing that Americans are still willing to blatantly discriminate against qualified candidates because of race/religion/sexual-orientation, it’s comforting to know that there is hope for the future.
