It’s pretty much common knowledge that Chick-fil-A donates millions of dollars annually to anti-gay organizations, many of which are SPLC-classified hate-groups. Nonetheless, Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy tried to maintain last year (in the face of public outcry) that despite these contributions, Chick-fil-A supports its gay and lesbian employees:
We have a whole spectrum of team members that work with us who are part of the gay and lesbian community. They know as employees of Chick-fil-A that they are welcomed, they are embraced, and they are part of the Chick-fil-A family. So to be identified with some sort of hate group that has a political agenda — that is not Chick-fil-A at all.
Well, apparently he’s now realized the disconnect between donating money to hate groups and allegedly “supporting” gay and lesbian employees and is finally coming clean. In a recent interview with Baptist Press, he admitted that his company is “guilty as charged” to opposing marriage equality:
Well, guilty as charged… We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.
If you care about LGBT rights, do not support this hateful organization. Also, the food is really fucking gross. It’s awful. The smell of the inside of a Chick-fil-A makes me nauseous. And they’re closed on one of the two days per week I might actually be out running errands and willing to eat fast food.
