Full Low-Res Image Spoiler Map for xkcd’s Click-and-Drag

Today’s xkcd is great – it’s a gigantic bitmap filled with lots of interesting images. To see the whole thing, you must click-and-drag around. After playing with it for about an hour, I wanted to make sure I’d seen the whole thing so I wrote a quick script to scrape it.

I almost hate to post this spoiler map; I encourage everyone to use it responsibly. PROMISE me you will play with the comic for at least 30 minutes before using the below map. Also, the map won’t do all the work for you. It’s far too low resolution to make out the jokes. This is just meant to show you where things are so you can go find them yourself on the comic.

Without further ado, the map is below (click for larger size):

UPDATE: Some users are reporting that there are things missing. It’s true that because of scaling on the map above some key features have been reduced 2-pixels. I’ve posted a bigger PNG here which does a better job showing these (most browsers won’t render it – you’ll need to download to your computer). However, despite some of the comments, as far as I know or have seen the image above DOES show the east/west north/south bounds.

  3. I don’t see Super Mario Brothers lvl 1-1, a rocket ship, a pirate ship, the creeper… You’ve got a tiny sliver of the whole map. But hey, way to get some page views by promising the whole thing!

    • Those things are there in my image if you know where to look for them, but it’s true that they were super pixellated on the low-res version. I’ve added a slightly higher res version where you can make them out better. You’ll need to go experience the real thing if you want to see them in full-res.

  4. I got lost underground and was late for work, so I’ll count that as having played enough to warrant some spoilers.

  5. You did not even get a tiny part of the way down or up. lol.

  6. I hate to break it to you, but you’re missing the walls on either side…
