Wesley’s Wine Club (September 2013)

In our monthly wine club, We’re working through the suggested tastings in Great Wine Made Simple: Straight Talk from a Master Sommelier. I’m just going to be giving a quick run-down of this month’s wines. All were served slightly chilled.

2010 Weingut Liebfrauenstift

Pale-colored, light-bodied, and dry. Well-balanced, with a short finish. Overall, 4/5 stars and would definitely drink again.

2008 Selbach Saar Riesling Spätlese

Gold-colored with citrus aromas. Light-bodied, sweet, and high-acidity with a medium finish. Overall, 3/5 stars.

2010 Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Pinot Noir

Garnet-colored and leggy. Full-bodied, dry, and balanced, with a medium finish. Overall, 4/5 stars and would definitely drink again.

2010 Franciscan Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Mahogany-colored. Full-bodied, dry, and beautifully tannic with a long finish. This one was polarizing in our group, with some loving it and others hating it. I loved it, and give it a 5/5 overall; this is a real bargain at this price point and I plan on picking up another bottle for my collection.
