In our monthly wine club, we’re working through the suggested tastings in Great Wine Made Simple: Straight Talk from a Master Sommelier. I’m just going to be giving a quick run-down of this month’s wines. All were served slightly chilled.
2007 JJ Prum Kabinett
This Riesling hails from Mosel, Germany. It was pale, crisp, off-dry, and light-bodied with a short finish. This was the favorite of the two Rieslings. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and would definitely drink again.
2011 Mure Signature Riesling
This Riesling is from the Alsace region of France. It was straw-colored with a fruity nose. It was full-bodied with a cloying finish. I give it 3 out of 5 stars and would not drink again.
2011 Michel-Schlumberger Le Sage Merlot
This Sonoma Merlot was garnet-colored with peppery nose. It was dry and light-bodied, with a medium finish. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and would drink again.
2011 Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Merlot
This ruby-colored Merlot hails from Napa Valley. It was dry and full-bodied, with a medium finish. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and would drink again.
